NNCC Commissioners' Meeting Highlights
July 18-20, 2010
Marquette, MI
The NNCC met in Marquette, MI for their summer meeting on July 18th to the 20th. The meeting was attended by: Commissioners – Maureen Craig, Caroline Counts, Kim Deaver, Darla Doubet, Kathy Houle, Mary Schaal, and Karen Wiseman; Executive Director – Nancy Gallagher; Certification Services Manager - Kim Marrero; and Center for Nursing Education and Testing President – Peg Garbin.
- The standard order of business took place, such as reviewing previous minutes, approving the budget, etc.
- The CDN and CNN examinations will be offered via computer based testing (CBT) starting in October, 2010.
- The CDN and CNN exam fees are set to increase January 1, 2011. Qualified individuals should take the exams prior to the fee increase!
- Verification of a person’s certification status should be done on the NNCC website.
- The CNN-NP practice exam fee was set at $50. The practice exam is now available on-line.
- The CNN-NP nephrology clinical requirement for recertification was adjusted to 1,000 hours to be congruent with the clinical requirements criterion for national NP recertification.
- A CCHT Task Force will be meeting this August to review and develop a survey for technicians and licensed practical/vocational nurses. The survey will go out in the fall and a Job Analysis will follow. The future direction of the exam will be built on these activities.
