Mt Laurel, NJ, 09/13/2021 —The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), is pleased to announce that the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) has been granted reaccreditation for the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification program.
The Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification program was formed in 2001 by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC). The CCHT credential represents specialized experience and knowledge in the care of patients with kidney disease. The CCHT program has been accredited by ABSNC since 2016 and has over 37,800 certified hemodialysis technicians.
“Having the CCHT program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) is an honor. By meeting the rigorous standards that comprise the ABSNC accreditation application, the CCHT certification program has demonstrated that it has achieved the criteria demanded to provide a current and comprehensive certification program. ABSNC certified hemodialysis technicians exemplify the skill and knowledge needed to provide the safest, best care to kidney patients,” said Kathy Houle, CNN-NP, NNCC Executive Director.
ABSNC accreditation is a peer-reviewed mechanism that allows nursing certifying organizations to obtain program accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the highest quality standards in the industry. To maintain accreditation, programs must exhibit continuing adherence to the 18 standards set forth. “ABSNC Accreditation represents a recognized standard in certification testing and indicates that the credential meets or exceed legal and regulatory guidelines,” said Felicia Lembesis, CAE, Executive Director.
The mission of ABSNC is to recognize quality specialty nursing and associated non-RN certification programs through accreditation. It is the only accrediting body specifically for nursing certification. ABSNC currently accredits more than 60 certification programs from 20 specialty nursing certification organizations. The accreditation standards offered by ABSNC include Examination-Based Certification Programs, Portfolio Assessment Certification Programs, and Assessment-Based Certificate Programs.
