Happy National Nurse Practitioner Week

The COVID-19 public health emergency was extended on January 16, 2022, by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for at least another 90 days. The agency first declared the pandemic a public health emergency on January 31, 2020 and has since renewed it continuously.

What does this mean for you and your certification? NNCC has not extended or waived the requirements for certification or recertification. All requirements must be met within the required period as outlined in the eligibility requirements to be approved for examination or recertification.

If you’re due to certify or recertify, this Federal requirement to hold a valid certification credential to work as a dialysis technician will be waived by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) during this period. However, unless you have problems with closed testing sites or other COVID-19 related issues, you should make every effort to certify or recertify on time.

For more details on the waiver and its impact on your dialysis certification, read the NNCC FAQs Regarding CMS Waiver and Certification Credentials.
