PRESS RELEASE: ABSNC Grants Accreditation to Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission CCHT Program; Reaccreditation to CDN and CNN Programs

Thursday, December 1st, 2016

PITMAN, NJ —The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification, Inc. (ABSNC), recently announced it has granted accreditation to the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) for the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification program. ABSNC also granted reaccreditation to NNCC’s Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) and Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) certification programs.

ABSNC accreditation is a peer-reviewed mechanism that allows nursing certifying organizations to obtain program accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the highest quality standards in the industry.

“Accreditation is a highly desirable distinction for organizations that certify nurses and non-RN team members in a specialty,” said Dottie Roberts, EdD, MSN, MACI, RN, OCNS-C®, CMSRN, ABSNC Accreditation Manager. “We at ABSNC are very pleased to recognize the CCHT program as the first accredited non-RN team member program to earn this prestigious recognition.”

For the CDN and CNN reaccreditations, NNCC met the standards set by ABSNC, according to Roberts.

“Applicant organizations complete a rigorous process to demonstrate maintenance of a quality certification program in meeting the ABSNC standards and earning this prestigious recognition,” she said.

NNCC is a national, independent organization that collaborates with the Center for Nursing Education and Testing (C-NET) in developing, administering and evaluating certification tests. The organization oversees the following certifications:

ABSNC is the only accrediting body specifically for nursing certification. Currently ABSNC accredits more than 60 certification programs from 20 specialty nursing certification organizations.
