Recognizing Dialysis Technicians: We Salute You!

NNCC joined in celebrating dialysis technicians during October as National Dialysis Technician Recognition Week was proudly observed Oct. 10-15, 2022. NNCC recognizes the vital role dialysis technicians perform in the essential treatment of dialysis patients throughout the United States. The National Association of Nephrology Technicians (NANT) designates the second full week in October each year to recognize technicians for the valuable contributions they make to the nephrology field. Thank you to all dialysis technicians!

Advanced Practice Exam Board and CNN-NP Test Committee volunteered their time working to ensure the highest standards in our nephrology nurse practitioner examination continue to be met. The AP Exam Board and CNN-NP Test Committee met October 14 - 16, 2022 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Career Mobility Scholarship Application
|
Career Mobility Scholarships will be awarded annually to support qualified, NNCC certified individuals in continuing education and development or support of a program to improve patient outcomes in the health science field. All application materials must be submitted and received by NNCC no later than November 30, 2022.

Calling All Advocates! NNCC Award for Nephrology Nursing Certification Advocacy Award
|
It’s that time of year again! The submission deadline to be considered for the 2023 NNCC Award for Nephrology Nursing Certification Advocacy is January 1, 2023. This award was developed to recognize organizations which advocate for or promote any and all levels of nephrology nursing certification. Organizations that provide patient care to persons with kidney disease and employ certified nurses and technicians are eligible to apply for this award.
Organizations include, but are not limited to, free standing outpatient dialysis units, hospitals, and ambulatory care clinics. A unit or division of a larger organization is eligible to apply. NNCC believes that such advocacy ultimately leads to quality patient care – and should be celebrated. For more information, call the NNCC at (888) 884-6622 or email nncc@ajj.com.

Attention Magnet Healthcare Personnel

NNCC is reaching out to Magnet healthcare organizations and those organizations applying for Magnet status to make you aware of nephrology nursing certification. It is the goal of NNCC to promote the highest standards of nephrology nursing practice. NNCC offers certification examinations for nephrology and dialysis healthcare professionals.
- CCHT: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician, for the entry level technician.
- CCHT-A: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician-Advanced, for those technicians with greater than five years’ experience.
- CDN: Certified Dialysis Nurse, for nurses working in the chronic outpatient dialysis unit.
- CNN: Certified Nephrology Nurse, for those nurses working in other areas of nephrology e.g., transplant, education, home therapies, administration and others.
- CNN-NP: For those Nurse Practitioners working with patients with kidney disease across the spectrum.
For facilities who pay for the certification exams, we have developed a voucher system to enable the facility to pay for the examination without any upfront cost to the exam candidate. This will make it easier than ever for your colleagues to take the next step in becoming certified in nephrology! If you are working within a Magnet healthcare organization, we are asking for you to help in passing along this important information.
