Tell us about your career, and why you chose to serve as a Public Member of the NNCC Board of Commissioners
I am a financial advisor for Edward Jones and have been there for a total of 14 years now, more than 6 as an advisor. I wanted to serve as a Public Member on the NNCC Board of Commissioners for a few reasons. The first was the great opportunity to join the board and I am looking forward to learning all that I can, helping and giving my insight into the meetings, and meeting new people I wouldn't have had the chance to meet. It will also motivate me to get different certifications in my industry.
Why do you believe strongly in the benefits of certification?
The benefits of certification in any industry show a few things. It shows the commitment to your craft, the extra learning and knowledge it takes to get certified, and the continuing education you will go through to be on top of your game.
What motivates you in your profession - and what drives you personally?
In my profession as a financial advisor, doing the right thing for clients motivates me. There are so many horror stories in the industry that people are getting taken advantage of financially, and I have seen it a few times. I never want to see anyone go through that and at the end of the day, if I can help someone understand their own situation a little better, or make them feel comfortable with their financial plan, I have done my job.
What are your hopes for NNCC, as an organization, and its members?
My hope for NNCC is for the organization to continue on with the level of success it has been on and if I can be a little part of that, all the better. I feel I can add a perspective as a financial advisor and business owner who could look at a situation from a different angle. I look forward to working with all the members to achieve the common goal, which is to make NNCC the best it can be.
